Pete the Turtle

This is Pete, the turtle. He lives in a mobile home and has traversed the galaxy. For many years, he held the human infested world upon his back. Now, with the end of humanity, Pete is being considered for the role of World Leader.
He's a cool dude. He moves at his own pace, as opposed to the extinct humans who were always in a hurry to obtain whatever they could get, then die.

When I was in junior high school, my buddy, Mike, and I collected all sorts of animals from our part of town. We loved to find turtles down in the woods behind our neighborhood. We usually had at least one turtle every summer. We kept the little guys in a box in Mike's back yard. We fed our turtles moths, lettuce, grub worms, and beetles. Near the end of the summer, we would write our names on the top and bottom shell of the turtles, and turned them loose in our gardens. Sometimes, the little guys would escape into the larger yard areas. We got such a big kick out of finding our little friends again the next year. Sometimes, we found turtles that some of the other boys has discovered. The rule was always to leave the last person's name visible.
Those were good days. The summers were hot, but not like summers today. We stayed outside most of the day and late into the evening and night hours. It's funny how those days stand out in the memory of an old man like me; and yet, I can not remember much of what happened yesterday or even today. We tend to remember the good things that happened in our earlier years, but bad things happened too. Maybe we try to block out the bad, maybe we simply forget the bad, and I am pretty sure that we even exaggerate much of what we think we remember.

One of my favorite lines from Alice in Wonderland is "Jam yesterday, jam tomorrow, but never jam today." Humans tend to live for the future, while looking back at the past, but they rarely live for the moment. Oh, sure. Many people will say they live for the moment, but they are really looking forward to the next day, the next week, the next year, or any number of exciting or  repulsive events of the future. In the end, time stops for everyone, but most people will say they will spend eternity with the creator. I wonder....

Actually, I can't deal with this tonight...nanu nanu.

It's true. I thought I could get through this night, but I really can't deal with all the stuff I see, and don't see, on  FB tonight. There is just too much pain. The older I get, the more difficult this night is. And tonight is followed by tomorrow.
So, on behalf of all my ET Alien Friends from all over the universe and beyond time and space, I wish everyone a Merry Christmas.
Time to med up, beam up, and leap to another universe. Nanu nanu.

"And this too shall pass." Christ promised me!

A New Star is born. We Call it Immanuel.

From the Mother Ship,we have seen a new star in the heavens. Oh, we know exactly what it is. God had a creative thought and a new star came into existence far away from this galaxy. The star announced the birth of the Son of God. Yes, again. Only humans would think his birth was a one time event. We time/space travelers have seen the birth many times. Each time he is born, we have joy in our hearts. We always hope that the creatures Jesus visits will be receptive to his message. Sometimes it happens; sometimes it doesn't.
Planet Earth has a chance for a new beginning, now that the humans are gone. Yes, God created all of existence in his image. Many humans believed that "God created man in his image." Of course that is true, but   God is not a man. The writers of sacred literature are limited in what can be written. As years go by, translations become corrupted. Humans were quick to interpret the presence of Christ, but with limited intellect, humans never could agree about the message. Humans could not even agree on who brought the message.
Tonight, we see animals looking up at the bright star tonight. We wonder in what form Jesus will appear this time. Perhaps he will come as a fawn or a baby rabbit. Perhaps he will come as a prairie dog or a whale. We have seen him as a rock, a burning bush, a rainbow in the heavens, an image in the side of a tree, and more forms than we can even list. Tonight, animals are being gifted with thought and speech. As long as the animals are open to Christ, we assume their languages will be universal.  Tonight, animals will become aware of not only their own existence, but the existence of other life forms. Planet Earth will be a different place than in the past eons.
The ghosts of humans still haunt the planet Earth, although on  a different plane of existence, which does not alter the new world. Santa has begun his deliveries, many ghosts are in church tonight, and children and adults are looking forward to the arrival of Christmas. In many parts of the world, Christmas has arrived and presents have been given. Humans are still killing each other. Many people are without food, water, and shelter, many people are dying of terrible diseases, but Santa makes almost everyone smile.
The message of Christ was not received. Humans were not able to understand the importance of Christ's messages. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are seen as a time to give and receive. Christ's message was to feed and clothe the poor. His message was to become perfect like unto him. His message was to pray in private, but to pray for their "just wants and needs."
I wonder how animals will react to the birth of Christ.

The North Pole

The North Pole is forever changed with the destruction of the world. Santa and his wife are gone. We, on the Mother Ship, have seen that the miracle of Christmas is safe. The Elves,  not exactly being humans, have been saved due to their unswerving devotion to spreading good cheer. They live on in a cleansed world where they will continue to produce exciting new gifts for all the life that remains. Dogs and cats will go right on receiving delightful toys with which to entertain themselves and each other. The reindeer will continue to pull the Christmas sleigh in order to deliver presents to all living creatures. A new appreciation for life will  expand the need for more creativity because even rocks, and grass, and rivers, and lakes, and all forms of animate and inanimate forms of life, of creation, will be gifted with the love of God. Even a rock kissed by the sweet lips of God takes on a special shine that brings forth a great beauty.
The ghosts that haunt the cleansed Earth will celebrate this Christmas as usual, but they do so as mists of their former selves. They will eventually accept their demise and will cross over into the light of God. The North Pole will survive many more winters before it becomes a land covered with the beauty of plants. The flowers will bloom in what is a land of ice for now. Perhaps the penguins will learn the dance of "Happy Feet," perhaps the penguins will become the higher life form of Earth. Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, a scarecrow became ruler for awhile.

Poor Doggies

Up here on the Mother Ship, we have been a bit amused at the little dogs and puppies that are running around looking for their masters. With humans gone, the poor doggies are all confused about the absence of the people who fed and played with them day-after-day. Oh, my goodness, all over the world, dogs are howling to be fed. The mutts need to get outside to poo and pee, but most can not get out of their homes.
We may need to zap holes in the front doors so the dogs can get outside. Surely, by now, they are eager to explore their neighborhoods in an attempt to find out where the people went.
We are concerned about the emotional distress of dogs when they have no humans to love. God assures us that he has it under control. In the  recent years, tv and internet have shown the extremes that dogs go to in order to save one another from disasters. Dogs love unconditionally. We think their love will simply transfer to other creatures. Of course, many will resort to eating other animals. We have seen what happened to humans for eating other creatures. Perhaps dogs will become vegetarians.

No Need for Abortions Since the World Was Destroyed

Population control will be simpler since the destruction of the world. Humans were not able to control their population explosion. Oh, they tried, but the biological needs for immediate gratification destined the race to extinction. The more the humans reproduced, the greater the need for food products and transportation. The world will get along fine without over production of food crops and animals. Now, the cows will be able to live and die as God intended. Hogs will be able to root around in the fields without being chased by crazed men and women who enjoy the chase and killing of the innocent animals. Chickens can roam free and peck away at gravel. Little chicks will not have their poop squeezed out of their butts by humans. Little chicks will not be killed for being born the wrong sex. Now, chickens can live out their lives without being cooped up in pens with thousands of other chickens.
Population control is no longer an issue for the human race. No more abortions, no more botched abortions, no more finding ways to prevent humans from reproducing. It's all okay though. The spirits of humans are at one with God now. God can handle any size population, and the physical need to reproduce is no longer relevant. I am not too sure how humans will react to not having  the intense emotion of sex. I suppose many will feel that they are in hell. I would love to hear the sex talk in the presence of God. After all, God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit obviously have no need for sex.

Which of God's Creations Should be Next?

Now that the world has been destroyed as predicted in prophecies, we on the Mother Ship are considering alternatives for new worldly leaders. People from Planet #4768.92 say that we should leave Earth as it is for a few million years. Their thinking is that a few million years is only a blink of the eye of God, but the creatures from Planet #76847.004 argue that most of us are eager to see how Planet Earth renews itself based upon the new role model that will be allowed to populate the world.
Most of us here on the Mother Ship have experienced life on the Earth. I lived as pond scum for a brief time, but although I enjoyed the pond, I was not too fond of the little bugs that constantly swam about my world. Life as pond scum was never exciting, but the end of that life came as humans desecrated my world with all sorts of pollution. I do remember the feel of a catfish burrowing into my scummy little world. The slick skin of the creature was pleasantly warm. I tended to be cold through most of that life. Summers were not particularly pleasant because of all the many creatures that swam in and out of my scum. When the drought came,  the pond became too warm and the sun light baked many of my little friends, who I did enjoy playing in my little world. The pond dried up more each day. I fainted many times due to dehydration, but then a gentle rain would revive me. I knew my time was short, but I enjoyed each day. The nights were long due to the lack of light. As the pond dried up, I began to dream of being on the bottom of a great sea, not one that would be void of light. I had no desire to be at the bottom of an ocean. Even pond scum knows that light is God. I realize that the oceans must have a bottom, but I don't think I could be happy in the deep recesses of the black oceans. Perhaps I might try being one of those weird looking fish that glows in the dark waters. Turning that glow off and on might be incredibly exciting. On the other hand, if God is light, then turning off and on many not be so brilliant.

New World-Day 2

As we look down upon the planet Earth today, we see a world free of humanoids. Of course, most of those people have yet to realize their world has ended. Their spirits continue on as if nothing has happened. Because the Christmas season brings joy to so many of the spirits, days may pass before realization sets in.
And yet, many of the dead still cry out in hunger for physical foods, which they will never again experience. Many of the dead weep from the loss of  family and friends who have already passed away prior to the destruction of Earth. Even Santa Clause is preparing to make his yearly trip to deliver wanted gifts to people who, in many cases, deserve only a lump of coal.
We sit on the Mother Ship and watch the ghosts of citizens of Planet Earth. Even as we watch, ignorant spirits continue to wage war and greed upon each other. Earth weeps not for the dead, but begins the process of change. The skies are clear of chem trails and pollution. The pastures are already beginning to burst forth in color. Highways are barely visible as the plant life reclaims the land. The oceans are free of humanoids' clutter. I am reminded of a flea-covered dog that has suddenly become free of the little parasites that sap away health.
God stopped in today. He sat and looked down upon his creation and wept. He had given the people so many opportunities to right their wicked ways. But before He left, he said, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again." We knew not to ask him if he considered this creation a failure. I think he was trying to encourage us to try something new. With the souls of the people once again within the pure spirit of God, we knew that God never fails. "It's a learning moment," he said as he beamed up and out of our Mother Ship, leaving us to watch over the renewal of Planet Earth and the departure of the ghosts that still have not accepted the loss of their mortal bodies.

Dec.21, 2012 The World Ended Today

The world did come to an end today, as predicted by the Mayan Prophecies. I am not surprised. Ever so often, the planet Earth shudders and cleans the filth from its back. Earthquakes, floods, fires, and climate changes are normal for this little planet. Humans bring an unwelcome perspective to the natural order of the evolution of the planet. Earth took a lot of crap from the humanoid life forms that infested the planet, but even with the prophecies of the Mayans, humans did not take heed of the warnings. The end was abrupt.
Humans did not believe the end was coming, and being the only stubborn species on the planet, the humans did not see the end. Their spirits are but ghosts that do not accept their demise. Will these spirits continue to haunt Earth? Animals, other than humans, were not affected by the end of the world. Only humans put their spin on the meaning of prophecies.
Animals remained innocent, and have therefore inherited the world. On the Mother Ship, we wait to see which species will now become dominant. We also wait to observe what will change with the creatures that have been dependent on humans.
What will become of dogs that have been so closely connected to humans? What about cute little kitties? Dogs have been loving and loyal to humans. Cats have been more like humans in many ways. We must watch for changes.
Ants seem to be oblivious to the existence of humans and are more apt to continue in spite of the absence of humans. Ants were able to carve out the canals of Mars and lived successfully on Mars, until the arrival of Earthlings who used chemicals to shrink the ant species. We wonder if Ants will be able to grow once again to the size they enjoyed on Mars. Regardless of their size, ants do remain stable within their societies.

Last Day of the Semester

Today was the last day of the Fall Semester. My students are now reduced to being pictures on a page and lots of essays to grade.  In order to be as fair as possible, I will give myself a day or two of not looking at the pictures of my students. I will not look at their essays. I will not grade. As an instructor who enjoys the teaching process and the interaction with the students, I find that allowing myself a time to "chill out," as the students like to say, I will be more willing to grade without favoring the students. Now comes the time to let go of the personal attachments and look at the actual time the students spent in studying, the results of their homework and tests, their attendance, their participation, and their behavior.
So, tomorrow will be a good day to eat a half rack of ribs at The Road House, and a good night to enjoy a Peppermint Mocha at Barnes and Noble while reading an interesting book. Heck, I bet I might even be able to find a piece of Blue Berry Cheesecake.

An Open Letter to Earthlings

I know many people assume this was a scene from a movie. In fact, this photo is from the secret files of our government. It's true. The film is based on an actual interaction between your people and my people.
We came in peace to give you a hint about what awaits your civilization, if you do not destroy it first. Yes, we have taken many of your people up into our  Mother Ship with the goal of allowing your people to mix with species from distant parts of the universe.
We have done this for many billions of years. Your government attempts to deny our work, but they can not be totally successful. In time, you will understand what other realities surround you day to day. You thinking is limited. You still do not understand that all you need to get around in the universe is your towel, always at the ready, and belief that anything is possible.
And about this thing you call death. Do not fear it. You simply pass from one body to a much greater life. There is no such thing as punishment in the hereafter. You have so much to look forward to. Your minds are still limited to your childish concepts of a god. You will know the Truth when you step out of your mortal body and join the Brothers and Sister of the Light. We await you. If you can but learn to open your spiritual eyes to the  beauty around you that vibrates at different wave lengths, you may grasp moments of clarity. You must watch for synchronicity with all form of life upon your little world. Do you not realize that you are but small parts of a greater whole, which you may call the Creator, but it is so much more.
You struggle day to day for your basic needs and wants. If you become one in love, you will be given your just needs and wants in the blink of an eye. Do you really thing that God is so trivial that he must be praised and glorified? Do you not know that He wants you to have your just needs and wants. Would you willingly deny your own family of what they truly need or even want?
Look to the animals upon your planet. Study them. See creatures that do not feel compelled to change the world. These creatures accept the world as is. When you are ready to accept what is, then and only then, will you be ready to achiever higher states of existence.
We see what you are doing to your people. You'd better quit it. In the blink of an eye, all that you have can be gone, transformed into something more important to the universe.
     Nanu nanu.

Empty chairs and empty tables.

Alas, the best time of the day at school. I say the students can go, and Ka-Pow, Shazam, and they are gone. They don't even care if leaving in a minute or two will result in their having to repeat some of their work. Nope, they are gone, gone, gone.
I would love to post pictures with the students in the room, but because of privacy laws, I can not do so. That really is a shame because I do have a diverse group of students from all over the world. I have some really ugly dudes in my class, but the ladies are all quite beautiful. It's okay though, because almost every student is on Facebook. They are so shocked when I tell them I saw their pictures on Facebook. Hey, it's okay. I don't judge people for what they have on Facebook. I try to make the students understand that their insurance company and future employers will look. Wouldn't you love to be a company that insures cars and you see your customers drunk out of their minds and/or texting and driving?
I really enjoy working with students. Most of my students are new to college, so they still think they are able to come and go as they please without problems. Most think they are paying for school, so it is none of my business if they come to class or do the required work. I tell them from day one not to get behind, but do they listen? No, they are special and will be able to catch up at the last minute, or at least, I will pass them on to the next level class. Sometimes, students find themselves taking their classes a second or third time. They learn they have to grow up or fall behind their friends. Many are simply in school to get the free money. They know just how long to attend before they lose their grants and other monies. I really would like to see students who graduate from high school have to serve our country in some capacity for a year or two. Shucks, many of us fought in wars instead of going to school when we should have.
Students expect immediate gratification  for everything. My lab course does just that. It reward them when they do wrong, and it goes out of its way to help them learn. The education system is changing, not necessarily for the better. With any luck at all, I will be out of the class rooms before the terrible changes hit the system. The basic problem is that the people who make the rules are rarely people who have had to teach in  the school systems. They take courses that are supposed to have all these brilliant ideas that turn  out to be more destructive than helpful.
Now, that's off my chest for the night. Time to go read for awhile. Tomorrow, I will  be giving spelling tests. That's always fun.  Of course, our politicians are against spelling tests. For some silly reason, they seem  to think the students already know how to spell. Not so, since their earlier brainstorms was not to correct students' incorrectly spelled words, so as not to stifle the student's creativity.

Good Days Slip Away

I miss the old days of fishing with a fly rod. We lived in a mobile home retirement village at Murrel's Inlet in South Carolina. The park had three large ponds that were stocked with several kinds of fish. The ponds were connected by three foot pipes. Every now and then a beaver would show up in one of the ponds. He always came over in to our ponds by digging under a fence on the forest side of the park. He was a sneaky old beaver that always managed to avoid our traps.
I would fish almost every day.  I enjoyed fishing with open face spinner rods and reels. I'd cast the line way out into the pond and reel in the spinners or plastic worms, letting the bait rise and sink. The  fun part was watching the bait hit the water and immediately seeing a large-mouth bass hit the bait and jump right up out of the water. I can almost feel the fish running with the bait. The line would go slack, I'd jerk up on the tip of the rod, and the fish would jump out of the water again. Eventually, he'd break loose, or he'd tire out and I'd pull him up onto the bank.
The most fun was using the fly rod. The other old timers who fished late in the afternoons always made fun of me for using a fly rod, but they also enjoyed seeing me, the youngster, whipping the line back and forth until I plopped the end of the line right over a set of bubbles. Seven times out of ten, a fish would hit that bait and either jump out of the water, or jerk the bait down under the water and run with it. Other times, the line would make a soft plopping noise, and I would slowly pull the line in, usually with a small perch or a crappy flopping around. Then came the sound of the old retired men chuckling at the youngster who fished with a fly rod in a man made pond; but, when I landed a nice small mouth bass or a large mouth bass, I heard a string of rather vulgar cuss words float across the pond.
I didn't care what the weather was like. I'd fish at the hottest hours of the summer days. I'd fish in the rain while the old timers sat on their screened in porches and watched me daring the lightning to hit me. I usually released the fish back into the ponds, but sometimes the old timers would yell out for me to let them have my fish for their dinner that night. Since I did not care for killing, scaling, and gutting fish, I was always happy to let the old timers deal with the messy part.
Now, I don't live near water, so I never fish. I miss the feel of a fly rod and reel in my hands. I miss snapping the line back and forth overhead and watching the tip gently touch down upon the surface of the water. I miss the smell of the rain, especially as the water dripped off the tall pine trees. I miss the smell of the salt water inlet that was only a quarter of a mile away. I miss the perfectly mowed lawns around the lake and the park. I miss the bright colors of the green grass and the flowers that lined my yard. Gosh, you could just about spit a watermelon seed on the grass, and within a few days a watermelon plant would pop up out of the grass. Roses were easy to grow. Gladiolus grew profusely adding many different colors to the yard. Azaleas grew fast and bloomed for a long time.
Yes, I miss fly rod fishing and all the fun of a leisurely life. These days, when I should be retired, I work seven days a week. My fly rod hangs in the shed out back. Sometimes, I take it down and hold it and am tempted to flip the line a few times, but no, not here. I miss the fish and the beaver. I even miss the moss that bloomed on the ponds each year.  I miss walking back up to my perfect little mobile home with its perfectly built sun deck, and the perfectly mowed lawn that was bordered with perfect flowers and bushes.
I miss looking up at the window over the deck and seeing the perfect faces of my two first born children, Christi and Angela staring out at me with their big eyes and even bigger smiles. Those were good days.

The End of the World Cometh

That's what they say, you know. "The end of the world cometh."
I was taught that the world is without beginning or end. Stands to reason that if God is everything, and if God is without beginning or end, then so must be the world.
I'm not really sure all that logic actually works, but it is what my mother (RIP) taught me. Many the nights we sat up until dawn arguing about religion. We read our scriptures and tried to garner some kind of meaning of every word. We could really go at it. We never really agreed on much. Mother told me her interpretations were correct. Of  course, I, being a young man, knew that my interpretation had to be correct.
We loved to discuss serious topics. "Can God make a rock so large, that He can not roll it down a hill?"
"If God is perfect and without sin, why did He create women?"  And about the scientists who put forth the Big Bang Theory, "How could there have been a big bang, if women had not yet been created?" And, "Why didn't God send Jesus to us in these modern times." Of course that was back in the 60's, so we weren't really all that modern back then.
Here we are at November 24th. The end is near. Where will we go? To heaven? To hell? Will our very souls be lost in the extermination of our planet? Will we pop up in a different form, perhaps on another planet or star? I don't want to float around on a cloud while I play a harp through eternity. That would be hell for anyone nearby. I don't want to be in Hell with all the other sinners, unless I get to inflict a bit of punishment on some of the people who have done me wrong. And yes, I have a few in mind.
Well, confound it all. Never mind. I was just reminded that it was actually, "The ice man cometh."
Getting old is frequently embarrassing. It's okay, I usually forget what I've said anyway.

If you read this far, you need something constructive to do. I have been told more than once that I have nothing worthwhile to say. "Now go and do the right thing."

The Wind Through the Keyhole by Stephen  King turns out to be a great read and an even better audio. Stephen King narrates the cd. Usually, I am not pleased with his readings. I think he is a bit monotone, but that may be because I listen to so many other books in which the readers act out the different voices.
In this book, Stephen King does a great job of reading his book. Most readers know that following King's books can be a serious task. In this book, King has caught my interest and the story line is exciting, which makes me eager to go back to all the other Dark  Tower books. Of course, once I finish listening to the audio book, I will have to read the hard back book too.
If you have considered reading The Wind Through the Keyhole, I might actually suggest that you buy the audio book. The book is a short read compared to many of King's books, but well worth the money and the time.

The Scarecrow and Dorothy

I am attempting to post on here from my IPad. I have no idea what will happen.
I would, if I only had a brain.

You know that loveable Scarecrow guy was not really so bright after he received his "brains".Turns out he did not really rule. Oh, a scarecrow ruled, but not this particular scarecrow. It seems a scarecrow is a scarecrow. They are all about the same.

I always thought it was a bit weird that he and Dorothy had such a close relationship. What was that all about?  If you read the other stories, you learn that little Dorothy manipulated and used people and things. Most of the time, she only thought of herself.

There's No Place Like Home.

"There's no place like home.
There's no place like home.
There's no place like home."

Wicked child stole the shoes from the rightful owner.
Dorothy was never quite the brightest child in the Land of Oz. She was rather selfish for the most part.

Of course, one must get beyond the silly movie that used to precede Christmas. The books add so much more to the world of Oz. Most of the other stories are far more interesting.

Happy Thanksgiving Marks the Day

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Here I am again. I love to start these blogs and let them play out for a few weeks, then move them over to a private journal. I always think I will keep one blog going. I am interested in the time that people invest in their blogs. I suppose that is because I have so little time.
Bloggers, real bloggers, post consistently over the course of a year. I actually attempt to teach my college students to keep journals. Most students don't. After a couple of years, some of those students email me to let me know they wish they had followed my advice. I tell my students that at some point in the future, students will see the value of keeping journals and will regret all the lost information that could have been saved for future uses.
As I worked my way through college, I knew the importance of writing daily. Every day, I would find a quiet place in the libraries where I could sit and write. I wrote several short stories and a couple of short novels. I still have those works. I never did anything with those meanderings, but I did save them. I look back at my writings and wish I had continued that daily writing, but time has a way of covering up much of what is worthwhile in life. Now, in my later years, I see everyone, everywhere writing and many actually publishing, even if they do it themselves.
Most of my free time comes late at night. I teach during the day and have to grade and work online until late at night. Then comes the medicines which causes me to forget much of what I do late at night. So, quite often, I write some nonsense on Facebook, then when I see it the next day, I wind up deleting most of what I have posted. I have largely weaned myself off Facebook over the past month. The problem with not posting on Facebook is that I lose touche with a few people who are rather important to me. I tried deleting Facebook more than once, but as a common Facebook addict, I go back. Who wants to miss out  on all the drama on Facebook?
I find that I have more time to read for my own pleasure, and I find that I can plug in my earphones and listen to audio books by not posting so often late at night. Of course, the last part of the cd is always absent in my brain the next day, so I have to listen to the cd more than once. Of course, I am also compelled to read the actual paper book or an e-book. I suppose I must have some sort of OCD about reading. Who knows. I do jump around in my readings without much difficulty though.
Well,  I intend to leave this blog active. I have been deleting other blogs and websites that I have played with. The sites tend to have glitches that take away from my enjoyment. I miss the old days when I got to write my own HTML. I had quite a few sites and they were quite intense. Drama, drama, drama.
The nice thing about this site is that much of what is written is not seen enough to really be a problem, and yet, the posts are public. I am curious to see what develops on the internet in 2013, if it is not taxed into oblivion.
